Last night’s opening show of the Broadway/ Westend Theatre Production of Burn The Floor at the Artscape Theater in Cape Town was absolutely spectacular. The show really did its name proud. The stage was on fire with beautiful young dancers, bending and swaying their trained bodies in every way possible, from slow Latin dance to break-dance spiraling on the floor, it was simply exciting!

Gary Max Wright, one of the Burn The Floor dancers from Liverpool (UK) and keen Tweeter loved the audience’s response and was happy to hear that all the media and others in the audience were blasted out of their seats last night.

What makes this Aussie-produced show real special? Since last year`s tour, South African born and bread champion dancer Keoikantse Motsepe has joined Burn The Floor as a fully-fledged member.

At the end of an evening with sizzling excitement, the crowd cheered in a loud applause and was happy to get three more curtain calls from the 20 champion dancers.

This is one show not to be missed, filled with some eye-candy, a la Chippendales for the ladies and of course the Amazonian curves of the female dancers, an incredible amount of talent and the beautiful voice of male vocalist Peter Saul.

Burn the Floor will be in South Africa until 2nd December 2012. Starting off in Cape Town last night, they’ll leave the Mother City on 29th July to perform at Joburg Theater from 1st August to 19th August, after which they will burn the dance floor at the Natal Playhouse in Durban from 22nd August.

Tickets are available from Computicket  from R125 (Artscape) and R80 (Playhouse Opera Theatre), with a 10% discount for pensioners and students, as well as discounts on group bookings.

Sizzling, steaming and scintillating—there can’t be a hotter show in town!”

Jennifer Armstrong, Entertainment Weekly

“Utterly theatrical! A dance show I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone. It is dance theatre: comic and dramatic, sensual and lyrical, acrobatic and romantic.”
